Quotes about children and books

I chose two quotes because they are about children and reading books. I LOVE to read!!  I read at least one or two books a week if I have time.  I read even more in the summer when I don't work.
My first quote is:

"Make it a rule never to give a child a book you would not read yourself."
George Bernard Shaw

My second quote is:

"If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales."
Albert Einstein

I love these quotes because I feel children should be exposed to alot of types of books, but when we make them read books they don't like, it usually backfires.  Then, they like to read books even less.  If someone made me read books that don't interest me then I would be bored too and wouldn't want to read it.  I hope we can keep in mind that what we like and what the children like are sometimes two different things entirely.  I love fairy tales and children can learn so many things from them like lessons, morals, and values. Fairy tales can sometimes stimulate the imagination and make children create their own ideals and worlds and that isn't a bad thing.
